According to Bill Cook, studio assistant director and resident artist, "the fall show is an exciting one because abstract is the other spectrum of natural."
Matamoros' abstract paintings are inspired by memories and emotions recreated by using color, texture and the occasional line of type or collage element.
"Abstract art is basically whatever you see in the painting and it is also beautiful colors," Cook said.
Cook said although he describes himself as "more of a realist" when it comes to art, Matomoros' work is appealing to him.
"His work grabs me because I just love the colors he uses," he said.
Carrier, also a resident studio artist, photographs nature and the wildlife of Lake Bistineau and Dorcheat Bayou.
"Her photos are (normally) hanging over to the right when you first come in the door of the studio," Cook said. "They are beautiful natural nature photographs blown up into almost life size portraits."
