A man and woman were arrested late Monday by Bossier Parish deputies after an argument got physical.
According to Sheriff Larry Dean, the man became angry with the woman for texting and driving while traveling on Interstate 20.
Sheena L. Engel, 51, of the 24000 block of Highway 371 in Sarepta, was driving a vehicle westbound on I-20 just before midnight with passenger Stephen C. Bryant, 56, of the 200 block of Columbia Street in Shreveport, when the two began arguing.
Bryant told deputies he and Engel had been arguing since leaving Minden earlier, and he "got mad at her when she starting texting on her cell phone while driving."
The verbal argument allegedly got physical when Bryant took the cell phone away from Engel, and she started striking and clawing him on his arm.
Bryant then reportedly struck Engel on the arm and pulled her hair. Engel stopped the vehicle, and Bryant exited and started walking down I-20.
Engel then allegedly drove up behind Bryant, striking him with the passenger side mirror, causing the mirror to break and leaving a red mark on the left side of his stomach.
Deputies also found a small baggie on Engel containing suspected methamphetamine, as well as pill bottles containing an assortment of pills that could not be immediately identified.
Engel was charged with aggravated battery and possession of Sch. II (meth), while Bryant was charged with simple battery. They were taken to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for booking; bonds are pending.
