Thanks to a reliable source, investigating officers with the North Webster Drug Task Force have arrested an aspiring meth cook on multiple drug charges.
Russell Shane Neal, 40, of the 700 block of Payne Street has been charged with criminal conspiracy to manufacture Methamphetamine and possession of more than 12 grams of Ephedrine.
Lt. Shawn Baker, with the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office said he, along with Springhill Det. Ronald Wedgeworth and Officer Brian Montgomery, learned from a reliable confidential informant (CI) that Neal was inquiring about obtaining Pseudoephedrine pills for a Methamphetamine "cook."
"The informant asked how many pills were needed, and Neal said 'all we can get,'" Baker said. "We went to a drug store and purchased 13 grams of Ephedrine pills, and the informant, under a controlled delivery, met Neal at a gas station where the CI handed Neal the pills, and they discussed how much meth the informant would receive from the 'cook.'"
Neal reportedly left the store and officers nabbed him on a traffic stop.
"The pills were located under the driver's seat," Baker said.
Neal was booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
