One injured in stabbing; one arrested

april_whitingPolice arrested a Minden woman Tuesday night for stabbing another woman in the back.

April Whiting, 38, of the 600 block of Constable Street was taken into custody around 8 p.m. and charged with second degree battery.

Police Chief Steve Cropper said Officer First Class Chris McClaran was dispatched to Constable Street around 7:45 p.m. in reference to the stabbing.

"He made contact with the victim who said she was crossing the street when Whiting pulled up in a vehicle and they began arguing about something that occurred the night before," Cropper said.

According to reports, Whiting exited the vehicle and began trying to stab the victim with a knife.

"The victim broke and ran, and as she was trying to get away from her, Whiting hit her in the back and upper shoulder with a knife," Cropper said.

At that point, Cropper said other officers responded.

"Whiting gave a different account of the story, and officers verified through witnesses that the victim was telling the truth," Cropper said.

Whiting was booked and transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

The unidentified victim was transported to Minden Medical Center.
