Citing concern that little could be solved by staggering school times, Webster Parish School Board officials decided Friday to keep the original schedule for start-and-end times for schools.
"Supervisors Buster Flowers, Morris Busby and Kevin Washington met with all Minden principals (Friday) morning to discuss continued concerns about the start and end times for the schools as well as bus issues," said Interim Superintdent Jackie Sharp. "Many student address changes have not been updated in the Student Information System, which has caused a delay in issuing correct bus passes."
Sharp said those who met agreed that proceeding with the plan to implement staggered times – which would have started today – would likely result in more problems rather than fewer problems.
"Therefore, no changes in start-and-end times will be implemented at this time," Sharp said. "I apologize for all the confusion caused by the changes. The fact is that we are implementing a massive change from neighborhood schools to citywide schools combined with a larger attendance zone.
"It is imperative that parents provide the schools with correct addresses and contact numbers so that correct bus passes can be issued," she continued.
