Helen Banks Kinsey

IMG 0231Funeral Services for Mrs. Helen Banks Kinsey will be held at noon Friday, August 22, 2014, at St. Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray D. Jiles officiating.

Helen "Peaches" Kinsey was born in Haynesville to Cleveland and Hazel Banks. She was the ninth of 10 children born to Cleveland and Hazel. On Monday, August 11, 2014, God called one of His servants home.

In 1981, Peaches married William "Will" Kinsey and to this union, one child was born. Together, they reared three children.

In her earlier years, Helen was a member of St. Rest Baptist Church. Later, she joined Valley Springs Baptist Church, where her husband Will was a member. She worked several manufacturing jobs in both Louisiana and Texas.

Everyone who was around Helen knew that she loved her husband, Will. They were practically inseparable until his untimely death April 10, 2013.

She was also extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved slipping money in the pocket of the "grands" on holiday gatherings. Helen loved being around her family. When she was with them, she enjoyed laughing, dancing, and having a good time. She enjoyed participating in the Banks family gatherings and reunions that were held each year.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Williams Kinsey; her parents, Cleveland and Hazel Banks; four sisters, Betty Lewis, Arlean Banks, Mary Banks, Bessie Mae Banks; one brother, J.T. Banks, and one stepdaughter, Patricia Kinsey.

She leaves to cherish her memory three biological children, Sheridian Oliver of Tyler, Texas, Darrell Banks (Oreata) and Shannon Williams (Shendeka) both of Minden; three stepchildren, Travis Kinsey (Virginia), Evelyn Mitchell and Sylvia Gray, also of Minden; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Helen also leaves to cherish her memory a very dear neighbor and friend, Mrs. Ruthie Spencer, AKA, "Miss Tott."

Services are entrusted to Kennon's Mortuary.

Family hour will be held from 7 until 8 p.m., Thursday, August 21 in the chapel of Kennon's Mortuary.
