Civitans bring home awards

The Minden Civitans recently returned from their annual Magnolia District Convention held in Lafayette. Eleven members of the Minden Club attended: President Bill Barnett and wife Margie, President-elect David Bugner, Roger and Judy Grubbs, Ed and Janet LaBruyere, Paul and Sandy Morgan, and Steve and Janis Bryan.

The Minden Club received several awards presented by the district including Outstanding Youth Project, Outstanding Senior Citizen Project, Outstanding Community Service Project and Outstanding Scrapbook.

 

International Civitan presented Minden with awards for their donations to the Civitan Research Center at the University of Alabama Medical Center at Birmingham. Scientist work on finding causes and cures for diseases such as Down's Syndrome, Autism, Fragile X syndrome and Alzheimer's.

Minden was named an Honor Club of Distinction and Top Selling Club for Fruitcake. Janis Bryan was named a Distinguished President for 2011-2012.

Magnolia District installed new officers for 2013-2014, with Minden being well presented: Janis Bryan, District Governor; Steve Bryan, Area 4 Director; Judy Grubbs, District Treasurer; Roger Grubbs, District Secretary; Ed LaBruyere, District Sergeant-at-Arms; Janet LaBruyere, District Chaplin and Paul Morgan, District Newsletter Editor.
