Run for the Crossroads

The arts in Webster Parish will benefit from athletes participating in the 13th annual Webster Parish Spring Spectacular.

The Spring Spectacular, which is hosted by the Junior Service League of Minden and Sportspectrum of Shreveport, offers a one-mile fun run/walk and 5K/10K run/walk.

This year proceeds from the event will go to Cultural Crossroads of Minden.

"We are thrilled to be chosen as the beneficiary of this year's Spring Spectacular," said Chris Broussard, executive director of Cultural Crossroads. "The Junior Service League is so involved in the community, and we are honored that they see the importance of the arts and support Cultural Crossroads' vision of art and culture in the community."

The race will take place Saturday, April 27, beginning and ending in the parking lot of Minden Presbyterian Church.

The one-mile fun run/walk will start at 8 a.m., and the 5k/10k will start at 8:30 a.m.

Entry fees are $20 by April 19 and $25 thereafter and on race day.

Official race t-shirts will be available on a limited basis, so participants are encouraged to register early. The first 100 to register will receive a ditty bag.

Following the race there will be a 'Post Race Party' with a disc jockey, food and more. Trophies will be awarded to the overall winner & runner up (male & female) and to the age group winners (1st & 2nd place).

Applications may be picked up at Fanette's, Pink Magnolia Salon, Anytime Fitness (Minden), Minden Athletic, Sportspectrum (located in Shreveport and online.)

Application forms and entry fees should be mailed to: Junior Service League, 281 S. Tanglewood Dr., Minden, LA 71055.
