Monroe Willis, Sr.

Monroe_WillisMonroe Willis, Sr. was born Dec. 6, 1941 in Shreveport to the late John Henry Willis, Sr. and the late Gertrude Berry Willis.

Monroe accepted Christ at an early age and united with the King Solomon Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for more than 40 years.

He was a member of Mt. Nebo Masonic Lodge #105.

Monroe was employed with Sanitary Dairy for more than 30 years where he worked as a mechanic and shop supervisor. He also owned and operated M & M Automotive Repair.

He departed this earthly life on Oct. 27, 2012 in Minden. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Debra Willis; three sons, Monroe Willis (Telia), Tom Willis, Sr. (Sonya) and Charmin "Dee" Willis (Nina); one daughter, Elaine Brooks (Edgar); 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Lee Willis (Betty), Herman Willis, Sr. and John Henry "Pop" Willis (Brenda); three sisters, Hattie Turner; Marie Snell (William) and Vergie Burks (Eligah); four stepchildren, Kendrick Green (Franchessca), Tanayar Jackson (Jason), James Robinson, Jr. and Debricia Robinson; goddaughter, Ericka Fuller; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, November 2 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. in the chapel of Kennon's Mortuary with family hour from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3 at 2 p.m. at King Solomon Baptist Church with Pastor Rodney Williams officiating. Interment will follow at King Solomon Cemetery.
