Landrieu announces $203K grant to fire district 7

DIXIE INN — In addition to bond money secured by Webster Fire District 7, U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu's office announced Wednesday the district will receive a grant for more than $203,000 from the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Program (AFG).

Fire District chief Brian Williams said the board applied for the grant in 2013 but was not aware it had been secured. The money will go toward replacing old equipment, he said.
