A one-vehicle accident knocked out power to a portion of Homer Road Tuesday afternoon for a brief time. According to police reports, a 1998 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by 62-year-old James Webb of B.F. Martin Drive in Minden, was traveling in the left lane northbound on Homer Road when the accident occurred.
Webb told officers he looked down briefly to retrieve his cell phone and when he looked up, his vehicle was drifting into oncoming traffic. To avoid the traffic, Webb said he swerved off the road and collided with a city utility pole. Webb refused medical aid. He was not cited for the incident.
