Frances McInnis Crumpton died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013. She was born on July 5, 1917, in Minden, the daughter of Judge Frank McInnis and Cortez Mixon McInnis.
She grew up in the small town of Minden with her close cousins, Harry and John McInnis and lots of aunts and uncles. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, where she also completed one year in the graduate school of Social Work.
She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She was a past board member and dedicated volunteer of the Attic Angel Association, served on the Lakewood School Board, and was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church.
She was employed as director of Volunteer Services at Methodist Hospital and truly treasured her friends and associates at Methodist. She served as president of the State Organization for Directors of Volunteer Services.
Frances was deeply committed to her children and her community and was deeply loved and appreciated. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many wonderful friends. She continued her great love of family by maintaining her family ties to Minden and all her dearly loved southern relatives. She was an involved school and community volunteer and a great Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma.
In her later years, she spent very enjoyable times visiting her sons' families in Hawaii and Fort Smith, Arkansas and was second mom to the Madison grandchildren and could often be seen at Hartmeyer Ice Arena waiting to bring the boys home.
She made her home at Attic Angel starting in 1997, on Segoe Road and moved with all her friends to Old Sauk where she and her friends enjoyed their wonderful years.
Fran will be dearly missed by her three children, Charles Crumpton (Becky) of Honolulu, Hawaii, Susan Manning (Bradley) of Monona and Marc (Mimi) Crumpton of Homosassa, Florida; her special daughter, Huong Crumpton; her AFS son, Mike (Liz) Nesbitt; eight grandchildren, Marc Jr. (Tara) Crumpton, Braun and Cliff Crumpton, Kim (Chris) Neal, Ian (Hina) Crumpton, Bradley (Emily Hill) Manning, Stuart (Megan) Manning and Charles Manning; and seven great-granchildren, Ava and Kai Neal, Alyssa Crumpton, Blake and Taylor Crumpton, Lauren, Nolan and Mia Manning, and Lucy Manning.
She is also survived by many beloved relatives in Louisiana and Arkansas.
Frances was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart, Charles Crumpton, with whom she spent many wonderful years.
The Celebration of her life will be held at The Garden Room at Attic Angel Place, 8301 Old Sauk Road, Middleton, Wisconsin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013, with Chaplain Gary Hein presiding. A family gathering will follow the service in the Garden Room until noon on Saturday.
Visitation will be held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, Wisconsin from 5 until 8 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
