MONROE —The Lakeside Warriors and Lady Warriors traveled to Monroe on Friday for a pair of varsity district games with Sterlington High School.
Neither team came home happy, as the Lady Warriors fell, 32-25, and the Warriors dropped a 77-35 decision.
The Panthers controlled the game from the outset, as they led 23-6 at the end of the first quarter. Sterlington pushed their lead to 39-16 by halftime. The second half was not much better for the Warriors, as they were out-scored 29-9 in the third quarter, before taking the final quarter, 10-9.
Davian Whiting led the Warriors with nine points and Frankie Miles added six. Lance Taylor and Deandre Shehee both scored five points and Darryl Moore and Nyles Moore both added four points each. Jamarion Teal dropped in two.
The Lady Warriors played the Lady Panthers close, before losing, 32-25.
Sterlington held a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter (7-5), and then led 16-13 at the half.
The Lady Panthers out-scored the Lady Warriors, 8-5, in the third quarter to take a 24-18 lead into the fourth. Sterlington closed out the game with an 8-7 fourth quarter for the win.
Tamera Douglas had 15 points to lead the Lady Warriors. Tan Moore scored five points.
The Warriors and Lady Warriors both dropped to 0-2 in district play and will host Lake Providence on Tuesday.
