The Glenbrook Apaches and Lady Apaches pulled off two big non-district wins Friday night at the Minden Rec Complex.
The Apaches beat the Tallulah Trojans, 58-47, and the Lady Apaches knocked off the #4 ranked Lady Trojans, 60-59, in overtime.
Lady Apaches 60, Lady Trojans 59
"The girls really stepped up," Lady Apache coach Rendi Dillard said. "They knew it was going to be a tough game and they played the hardest I have seen them play all season. It was a huge team effort and win. I could not be more proud of the girls."
Carsin Spurlock led the Lady Apaches with 23 points and Jessica Mangrum added 13.
"Jessica was our clutch player in the overtime," Dillard said. "She hit two three-pointers back-to-back that helped us tremendously."
Hannah Harris scored eight points, Macie Branch had seven and Shelby Nicholas added four. Lauren Sims scored three and Catherine Willis added two.
Apaches 58, Trojans 47
The Glenbrook Apaches struggled with fatigue before beating Tallulah, 58-47.
"It was not a well-played game," Apaches head coach Todd Spurlock said. "It was our third game of the week, and the other two were close games that went down to the end. So we came out a little flat. Sometimes that happens when you've already beaten a team twice like we have with Tallulah. But it was good to get our 21st win of the year."
Jalen Patterson continued his hot play as he scored 34 points. Patterson averaged 36 points per game in the Apaches' three games last week. Cade Spurlock dropped in 13.
The Apaches will play at Central School on Tuesday and then will host Cenla Christian Academy in a big district game Friday night at the Minden Rec.
