Think there is nothing to do in Minden this Friday night?
"CureStock" is aiming to cure those boredom blues while raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Travis Chapman, member of local band "The Triggers," said he, Ethan Powell and Jared Mourad are excited to bring this event to the Minden community and St. Jude supporters.
"We were looking for a way to help out the auction, since last year it hit an all time high," Chapman said. "We were thinking of ways to help out, and we thought it would be awesome if we put on a concert in Minden."
Chapman said bands at "CureStock" will feature local talent.
"We are going to be featuring some of the best bands from around the area and in Minden," he said. "Minden is very fortunate to have some really, really good local talent playing in bands. "
Chapman said a variety of music, including southern rock, blues and a variety of country will be offered by several bands.
The line-up includes, The Dusty Boot Band, The Hard Times Band, Jared Mourad Band and Ethan Powell and the Triggers.
In thinking of a name for the event, the group decided "CureStock" would fit their desired theme perfectly.
"We decided a "Woodstock" type event, because we wanted a relaxed family-friendly event that would put everyone in the mood and geared up and ready for the annual auction," Chapman said. "We will have bonfires and concessions with drinks donated by Coca-Cola. Everyone should bring chairs and blankets to the event."
The annual St. Jude Auction takes place January 31 through February 3 this year, with several other fund-raisers such as races, cook-offs and others contributing, making the Minden community a top supporter of the children's hospital.
"We all love St. Jude here in Minden," Chapman said. "Some of the best local bands around are putting on a really good time for everyone in the community, and we hope to see a lot of people come out and raise money for St. Jude."
Music at "CureStock" will begin at 6 p.m. Friday January 25 at The Farm, located on the corner of Talton and East Union Streets, across from Save-A-Lot. Admission at the gate is $10 per person, with children under 12 getting in free.
