Memorial services for Mr. James M. Johnson will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Minden.
A wake will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home at 211 Murrell Street in Minden from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012.
The family requests that donations be sent to the Youth Center at St. John's Episcopal Church, (1107 Broadway Street, Minden, LA 71055; 377-1259; http://www.stjohns-minden.org/) in lieu of flowers.
Mr. Johnson was born in Shreveport, on Dec. 5, 1939. He died in Minden on Dec. 22, 2012 following a lengthy illness.
A practicing attorney for more than 45 years, Mr. Johnson received his B. A. and J. D. degrees from Louisiana State University.
During his long career, Mr. Johnson was a civic leader very involved in his church and very active in local and state politics. He was also the Assistant Legal Council in 1972 and the Head Legal Council in 1973 for the National Jaycees.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Glenda Gail Roth Johnson of Minden; his daughter, Kimberly Dawn Johnson of Minden; his daughter, Danielle Roth-Johnson, Ph.D., and son-in-law, John P. Tuman, Ph.D., of North Las Vegas, Nevada; his beloved grandchildren, Celeste Turan Gail Tuman and Alexander James Vladimir Tuman of North Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is also survived by his sister, Marianna Johnson of Minden; his sister, Joan Harwood of Monroe; his brother, Johnny Johnson and sister-in-law, Susie Johnson of Minden; his nephew, Eric Johnson of Minden; grand-niece, Hannah Johnson of Shreveport; his niece, Sarah Lindley and her husband, Mike Lindley of Shreveport; his niece, Celeste Funderberg and husband, John of Rayville; his niece, Leslie Toadvin Dear of Florida; his nieces, Melissa and Leslie Johnson of Shreveport; his nephews, Bob and Bill Johnson of Shreveport; his brother-in-law, Walter Adam Roth, III of Baton Rouge; his brother-in-law, Vic Roth and his wife, "Roxie" Roth of Baton Rouge; his brother-in-law, Billy Roth of Baton Rouge; his niece, Wendy Roth Bryan and great-nephew, Colby Bryan of Pride; his nephew, Louie Roth, Jr. of Baton Rouge; his niece, Devin Young and husband, Donnie of Baton Rouge; his nephew, Nino Roth of Baton Rouge.
Mr. Johnson's family wishes to extend their special thanks to Leonard Cosby, Mary Lou Colston, Johnny and Susie Johnson, Dr. Cliff Salmon and Dr. Richard Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers for the memorial service will be Eric Johnson, Schuyler Marvin, James Pruitt, David De Soto, Billy De Soto and Lee Elkins.
