RUSTON —On a day when the seniors rested, the Lakeside youth took over at the Cedar Creek Cross-Country meet, bringing home two individual championships and a team title.
With senior Anna Davidson on the sidelines, 8th grader Alissa Landers easily won the three-mile title running a 20:22 to defeat teammate Heather Schenck, who was second at 22:26. Kately Collier, also an eigth-grader, took third at 23:15, a personal best. seventh-grader Nancy Silva was sixth with a personal best of 24:05. Brooke Walker finished 22nd at 27:30 and Ke Sparza was 25th at 28:15.
The ladies had a low score of 34 points to take the championship in the six-team meet.
With Enrique Soto and James Taylor resting, freshman Eric Green dominated the field running a 17:03 over the three-mile course. Taking sixth place was Riley Smith at 18:28. Cody Robinson running a personal best of 18:48 placed 10th. Alex Robles took the 19th spot at 19:28. Joe Johnson running a personal best of 20:01 placed 25th. Dakota Conway was 26th at 20:03. Ryan McFarland placed 34th at 21:23. Lakeside finished 2nd to West Ouachita scoring 61 points.
The Lakeside teams will travel to Magnolia on Saturday, Oct. 6, to participate at the SAU Invitational, where Soto will be the defending champion.
