Indecent Behavior Arrest

Deputies arrest Doyline coach for relationship with juvenile

A Doyline School coach and teacher is without his freedom and his job today after he was arrested Wednesday by Webster Parish Sheriff's deputies.

William Andrew "Billy" Major, 29, of the 100 block of N. Main, Grambling, is charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile.

WPSO Chief Deputy Bobby Igo, Jr., said Major reportedly had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old female student several times since his employment at the school in September, 2012.

"This allegedly happened at several different locations, including the school," Igo said.

Igo said Deputy Wade Wells, who spends time at the school as a resource officer, was interviewing another student concerning a different incident, when that student reportedly confided in Wells about the relationship between the 16-year-old and Major.

"The student that gave us the information was not involved in this incident at all," Igo said.

Webster Parish Superintendent of Schools Steve Dozier said Major, who was the Cross Country Coach and Special Education teacher at Doyline School, was terminated Wednesday.

"He (Major) filled out a letter of resignation, but I had already completed the termination at that point," Dozier said.

Major reportedly left a high school in Lincoln Parish after an alleged texting incident with a student.

"He admitted to resigning over a texting problem, but he has not admitted to having intercourse with the student here," Igo said.

Det. Lt. Scott Tucker and Det. Capt. Dustin Reynolds were investigators on the case.

Igo said there are also female deputies trained to handle incidents such as indecent behavior with a juvenile, and he encouraged anyone who has experienced an incident to call the sheriff's office or nearest law enforcement agency.

"Don't be afraid to come forward," he said.
