Board agrees to support group for scholarship eligibility

As many as 10 Webster Parish students who previously had not qualified could now be eligible for TOPS (Taylor Opportunity Program for Students) scholarships following a school board executive session Monday to work out a resolution which will be forwarded to the state department of education.

Board members spent less than a half hour in the closed-door meeting discussing legalities and solutions with attorney Jon Guice and are now prepared to contact the state. Board President Charles Strong said the situation involved students who did not qualify through no fault of their own.
