Two men were formally charged in 26th Judicial District Court last week for aggravated rape.
Andre Demery, 43, of the 100 block of Willi Beatrice Road, Arcadia, was charged with one count of aggravated rape and one count of aggravated incest. He pled not guilty.
A spokesperson for Bossier-Webster District Attorney Schuyler Marvin said a status conference of April 15 has been set, with July 22 as a trial date.
All infractions are alleged to have happened in Webster Parish between October and November, 2012. Demery was arrested Dec. 5, 2012 by Webster Parish Sheriff's deputies.
Michael Dale Downs, 34, of the 300 block of Magnolia Camp Road, Cotton Valley, was charged with one count of aggravated rape, one count of forcible rape, two counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and two counts of molestation of juveniles.
Downs also entered a plea of not guilty. A status conference of April 15 has been set and a trial date of July 22.
According to reports, Downs allegedly committed these acts from March, 2012 to January 2013. He was arrested January 11 of this year by Springhill Police.
There were reportedly two victims in the case – one under the age of 13 and one 14 or older.
The two cases are unrelated.
