Memorial Services for Grady L. Jefferson, a former resident of Minden, were held today (Friday, March 29, 2013) at 1 p.m. at The House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 North Gettysburg Ave. Dayton, Ohio 45406.
Jeff, as he was fondly called, entered into eternal rest on March 21, 2013 in Dayton, Ohio. He was born March 8, 1941 in Minden to Elder "Pap" Jefferson and Beatrice Weatherton Jefferson. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
Jeff graduated from Webster High in 1959 and attended Southern University in Baton Rouge. He served in the United States Air Force with tours of duty to Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico, Ellsworth AFB South Dakota, and Offutt AFB in Omaha, Nebraska.
During his enlistment with the Air Force, he was trained as a computer systems analyst, which was instrumental in helping him gain employment with Control Data Corporation in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also transferred and worked for the company in Sunnyvale, California.
After retiring from CDC, he relocated to Dayton, Ohio.
Left to Cherish his memory are his wife, Teresa Jefferson of Dayton, Ohio; daughters, LaRhonda N. Jefferson (New Orleans), Leslie A. Jefferson (Atlanta, Georgia) and Debra Jefferson (Las Vegas, Nevada); sister, Hursey Lee Oliver; and sister-in-law, Margaret Nelson Jefferson, both of Minden; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, members of the Webster High School Class of 1959 and friends.
