Northeast Louisiana Master Gardener presents the Fifth Annual Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the West Monroe Farmers Market, located at 1700 North 7th Street.
Shoppers will find native plants, flowering vines, perennials, annuals, butterfly garden plants, flowering shrubs, plants for shady gardens and plants not usually found locally. Look for colorful hanging baskets and houseplants. Explore an assortment of herbs and vegetables, including tomatoes. Learn more about the Louisiana Super Plants, known for performing well even in our hot summer climate.
Master Gardeners will lead tours of the Butterfly Garden and will have butterfly related activities for children. Animal "Zoo Buddies" will visit from the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo.
Local experts will be available to talk everything gardening as follows; Teresa Morris, "Herbs" 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.; Kelby Ouchley, "Native Flora" 9 a.m. – 12 noon; Buck Bounds "Soil" 9 a.m. – 12 noon; Steve Hotard "Trees." Steve will be available most of the day.
Proceeds benefit Master Gardener service projects: Master Gardener Butterfly Garden, LSU AgCenter beds, Chennault Aviation & Military Museum, Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo, and Kiroli Park.
Master Gardeners will be on hand to help shoppers with parking, talk about all things gardening, and help load vehicles.
