Emmett Lux, Sr. died on Jan. 10, 2013. He was 90 years old. He meets his wife of 64 years, Marjorie Britt Lux in heaven.
He is survived by son, Emmett, Jr.; daughter, Arleen Trant; his brother, Michael Lux; and niece; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was the second born son of Michel Henry Lux and Emmie Fultz Lux born August 9, 1922 in New Orleans.
In 1941, Emmett married his sweetheart, Marjorie and joined Southern Bell Telephone Company. In 1958, he transferred from New Orleans to Shreveport and in 1962 from Shreveport to Minden. He retired from South Central Bell on Dec. 30, 1983 with more than 42 years of service credit.
While at South Central Bell, he held a variety of craft and management positions – from lineman to plant manager, becoming commercial manager in Minden.
His life was one of service to his country and community. He served in the U.S. Navy SeaBees in the Asiatic Pacific during WWII and in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Minden Chamber of Commerce – director of the Minden Lions Club – Vice President of the Minden Kwannis Club - Commander for the American Legion, Henry Thomas Ross Post 137 in New Orleans.
Emmett became a member of the Knights of Columbus and held such offices as Deputy Grant Knight and Grand Knight of Queen of Heaven, Council 4088 Minden.
On June 29, 1985 he received the Honors of the Fourth degree and served as a member of the Bishop Desman Assembly. He was a charter member of the Msgr Chenevert Assembly Bossier City (1986), holding such offices as Faithful Navigator and Admiral. Throughout his time, he worked on numerous Council and Assembly projects.
Emmett was beloved by all. He is survived by his family: his son, Emmett Lux, Jr. and daughter, Arleen Trant; brother, Michael Lux; niece, Michaele Lux; daughter-in-law, Gail Lux; grandchildren, David Trant and his wife, Heidi, Jeffrey Lux and his wife, Sandy, Chris Trant and his wife, Marjorie, Carl Trant, Weldon Trant, Pam Lux and husband, Richard Humphries, Marjorie Hull and her husband, Jimmy; and great-grand children Ashley and Sean Thornhill with their children Little Sean, Alexis, and Gauge, Angel Trant, Zachary Mc Clain, Chistina Trant, Petyon and Levi Hull, Riley Hembley, Kayleigh and Christopher Trant and Samantha Renea Humphries.
