Waving a gun at others is frowned upon, according to Minden Police officers, and doing so landed a Minden man in jail on multiple charges.
Kartonio Jones, 32, was arrested January 31 after officers were called to the 400 block of Front Street.
He is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, two counts of resisting by force, possession of a firearm by a felon, obstruction of justice, felony possession of CDS Sch. I (marijuana) and introduction of a controlled dangerous substance into a police department. Jones also had a hold placed on him by Probation and Parole.
"There was a victim at the residence who said Jones was waving a gun at several people," said Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper. "He apparently advanced on this particular female victim until she was out in the yard, telling her he was going to kill everyone in the house. She managed to get back into the house and call the police."
Cropper said Ofc. James Barnes, Ofc. Joel Kendrick and Off. Clint Smith responded.
"Officers received consent to search the house and found Jones hiding inside," Cropper said. "He was arrested and taken to the police department and placed in a holding cell. When officers attempted to search his person, he started fighting them, turned away suddenly and flushed a large bag of green leafy substance down the holding cell toilet."
Cropper said officers also found a small amount of marijuana on Jones' person.
Attempts to retrieve the flushed substance from the sewer system were unsuccessful.
Jones was booked at the Minden PD and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
