From patient to volunteer

IMG_1251

Four-year-old Brock Cassell has gone from being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in April, 2010 to volunteering at Minden's annual St. Jude Auction this year.

"He is doing really well," Brock's mother Mandy said. "He has been in remission since November."

Mandy said Minden's annual auction benefits many families at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

"We've been supporters of St. Jude and the auction for years," Mandy said. "Then Brock got sick. Without St. Jude, we – and other families – would not have been able to get treatment for him. That is why it is so important for people to give and support St. Jude."

This year's auction theme is "A Million Reasons to Give a Child Hope," after raising more than one million dollars for the children's hospital in 2012.

The auction, which started Thursday, is one of many ways available to donate to St. Jude.
