SIBLEY — Day 2 at the 19th Annual Don Stahl Memorial Tournament at Lakeside High School featured a number of close and exciting games.
Minden High School had a good day, as both the Crimson Tide and Lady Tiders took wins. The Lakeside Lady Warriors on the other hand, suffered a defeat to Bossier.
Bossier 57, Lady Warriors 49
The Lady Warriors fell behind early, but fought back to make a game of it before falling to the Bossier Lady Tigers, 57-49.
Lakeside trailed 16-4 at the end of the first quarter, but then out-scored Bossier 17-13 and 12-11 in the second and third quarters to cut the lead to 40-33 going into the fourth quarter.
But Bossier out-scored Lakeside, 17-15 in the final quarter to take the win.
Shanae Collins had a big game for Lakeside as she led the team in scoring with 23 points. Tamarea Douglas added nine. Tan Moore scored four.
Minden Lady Tiders 50, Doyline Lady Panthers 40
The Lady Tiders turned a 20-19 halftime deficit into a 10-point win by out-scoring the Lady Panthers, 31-20 in the second half.
"We missed some open shots early in the game," Lady Tider head coach Jacob Brown said. "We just started out slow, just not into the flow of things. We traded the lead back and forth in the first half."
The Lady Tiders took over in the second half.
"We came out and played much better basketball after the half," Brown said. "It all started on the defensive end. All the girls played really well. We forced 11 turnovers, and a lot of them were in the second half."
JaCourtney Neloms led the Lady Tiders with 14 points, including eight-of-nine from the free throw line. Anatvaia Sterling added 13 points and seven rebounds and Carmella Specks also had 13 points.
Chantrell Johnson led Doyline with 20 points and Shanelle Allen added 10. Amber Ary scored eight.
"We shot the ball real well tonight," Brown said. "We shot 47 percent from the field and were 15 of 19 from the free throw line, which was great."
Calvary 56, North Webster Lady Knights 43
Calvary jumped out to a 20-12 first quarter lead and never looked back.
Iceses Miller led North Webster with 13 points and Macy Turgen scored 12. Destinie White added 10 points.
Haughton Lady Bucs 56, Haynesville 32
Minden Crimson Tide 70, Haynesville 32
The Crimson Tide blitzed Haynesville in the first quarter, 25-7 and then added another 24 points in the second quarter to take a 49-19 halftime lead that led to the eventual 70-32 Minden win.
Kevin Hamilton led the Tide with 17 points and Leondre Forbes added 10. C.J. Elkins scored 11 points, Demmaria Hill six and Louis Moore, Reggie Seamster, Dominique Walker and Anfernee Red all scored five each.
Evangel 55, Haughton 47
There was one change made to today's tournament schedule. The Lakeside vs. Haynesville boys game that was previously scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the high school gym, has now been moved to 5 p.m. in the same gym.
The Northwood and Haughton girls game (that was previously scheduled for 5 p.m.) has been moved to 3:30 p.m. So basically, those two games switched time slots.
