HAUGHTON — The Lakeside Warriors were eliminated from the Haughton Jack Clayton Invitational Friday night, 52-43 by the host team, the Haughton Bucaneers.
"We started off slow, continued making turnovers and not shooting the ball well," Lakeside head coach Jason Gould said. "But we kind of got goinga little bit and kept it close."
Lakeside trailed 15-11 after the first quarter and 31-21 at the half.
"We were thrilled to only be down 10 at the half," Gould said. "We came out and played well in the third quarter, out-scoring them 14-9 and eventually got the lead down to one point. We went back and forth with them for a while, but we just made too many mistakes in the fourth quarter."
Haughton out-scored Lakeside 12-8 in the fourth quarter to make the final, 52-43.
Lance Taylor led Lakeside with 12 points and Darryl Moore added 11. Frankie Miles scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds, and Davion Whiting added eight points. Jamario Teal had 11 rebounds.
"We're still getting some balanced scoring so that is good," Gould said. "We'll get back at it Tuesday night at home versus Benton."
Lakeside will host Benton in two varsity games beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
