Fugitive nabbed locally

A Homer man involved in an altercation in Grambling was nabbed in Minden by local authorities Tuesday.

Daniel Champ, 21, of the 900 block of East 4th Street in Homer, has been charged on warrants of attempted second degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated battery.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said Champ was arrested by Minden Police, Webster Parish Sheriff's deputies and Tommy Clark, Grambling Chief of Police.

"The reports said the victim – from Grambling – was jumped by three or four Homer guys," Cropper said. "Champ allegedly shot him and the information we got is that he fled here, to Minden, because he has family here."

A phone call to an apartment on East Street verified Champ's presence, and around noon, members of the three law enforcement agencies moved in and arrested him.
