Schools will help with GED

Adults looking to complete their education by obtaining a GED (Graduation Equivalency Diploma) can now seek assistance from community and technical colleges in Louisiana.

"Northwest Tech is delighted to welcome Webster Parish Adult Education to the campus," said Northwest LTC Regional Director Charles Strong. "This program is a natural fit for our workforce development mission."

During the regular session of 2010, the Louisiana legislature finalized a transfer of responsibility for adult education programs from the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to the Board of Supervisors of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.

As a result of this legislation, the Webster Parish Adult Education Center will now be housed on Northwest Louisiana Technical College's Minden campus, located at 814 Constable Street.

"We look forward to continuing to offer the quality services Webster Parish Adult Education Center has always been known for and are excited about the dual enrollment possibilities that will be provided as a result of a shared training site," Strong said.

GED entrance testing and qualification will be held August 8 – 12 from 7:45 am until noon.

Registration will be the following week of August 15 – 17. Space will be limited. For additional information contact Lula Rice at Northwest Technical College, 371-3035 or 800-529-1387.
