Police investigate Monday night shooting

SHREVEPORT – A man is recovering from his injuries today following a shooting Monday night in west Shreveport.

Just after 11 p.m., Shreveport Police were dispatched to a call of a shooting in the 2700 block of Lakeshore Drive. It was on officers arrival at the location that they made contact with Shreveport resident, 36 year old Chris Taylor. Taylor, who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen, was subsequently transported to LSUHSC for injuries that were considered to be non life threatening.

Taylor advised authorities that he was walking through an alleyway behind a convenience store near the intersection of Hearne Avenue at Lakeshore Drive, when a lone male wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt accosted him.

Taylor advised authorities that he and the suspect struggled briefly, after which the suspect allegedly fired multiple shots at him striking him once.

The suspect, whose identify remains a mystery, fled the scene on foot following the shooting and is being sought.

The perpetrator was described only as a black male, approximately five feet six inches tall and weighing roughly 150 pounds.

Authorities are asking anyone with any information about this shooting to contact Shreveport-Caddo Crimestoppers at 673-7373.
