Glenbrook Apaches tops Riverdale, 62-51

The Glenbrook Apaches rolled past the Riverdale Rebels, 62-51, Friday night at the Minden Recreation Complex.

The game was the Apaches' first at the Rec, where they will play their home games this season after a fire destroyed their home gym.

"It was our first home game, and our first game at the Rec," Glenbrook coach Todd Spurlock said. "And I was real tickled with everything. It was definitely a home court advantage for us and will be more so as the season goes along."

Jalen Patterson led the Apaches, as he turned in a double-double. He scored 27 points and added 10 rebounds. He also added seven steals.

Maurice Moore also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Cade Spurlock dropped in 16 points and had four rebounds.

"Most of our points are going to come from those three, and they played well," Spurlock said. "But I was also pleased with the way Conner Copeland played and with the way Sam Marvin came off the bench."

Copeland added four points and nine rebounds.

"I thought we played really well at times, and we played sloppy at times," Spurlock said. "We were playing a well-coached Riverdale team, and never could get over the hump. We were a little soft defensively and we'll have to fix that. We also need to learn to play together better, but we only had three practices going into the game."

Glenbrook will play at Prairie View Academy tonight in Bastrop.
