Doyline High to host basketball Jamboree tonight at MHS gym

The Doyline Panthers and Lady Panthers will tip-off the 2012-13 basketball season tonight as they host a five-school, 10-team basketball jamboree.

The event will be held at the Minden High School gym and admission will be $5.

"We're going to start at 4 p.m. and we'll go until 9:30 or 10," Doyline head coach Michael Normand said. "We'll just see how long it goes."

Normand said the jamboree features a good line-up of games.

"All 10 teams made the playoffs last year," he said. "So we're looking for some real competitive basketball action tonight."

Organizers are expecting big crowds as fans are anxious to see some basketball.

"Football season is winding down, and I think people are excited about seeing some basketball," Normand said. "We're expecting a big crowd tonight, hopefully everyone will come out and watch us tip off the season and have some fun."
