Funeral services for Preston Lamar Howard, 55, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2012 at New Sarepta Baptist Church with Rev. LaVaughn Landry officiating. Burial was in the Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.
Visitation was held from 5 until 8 p.m. Saturday, at Bailey Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at Second Baptist Church in Katy, Texas Friday, August 24, 2012.
Mr. Howard was born Sept. 29, 1956 to Thomas Ray and Shirley Cox Howard in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and died Thursday, August 16, 2012 in Centerville, Mississippi.
He was a native of Sarepta and a resident of Houston, Texas for 20 years. He was a member and deacon of Second Baptist Church in Katy, Texas and was self-employed in the oil and gas business. He was an avid pilot, hunter, scuba diver and loved to restore motorcycles and cars. He enjoyed gardening, machining and making his own tools. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and the hardest working man his family knew.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Michelle Boulet Howard of Katy, Texas; sons, Preston Lamar Howard II and wife, Jenny of Pearland, Texas and David Patrick Howard and wife, Tiffany of Houston, Texas; daughter, Mary Denise Borrego and husband, Brian of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Madison and Mylam; his mother, Mrs. Shirley Cox Howard; sister, Renee Howard; brother, Tony Howard and wife, Amy, all of Sarepta and a host of other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father and brother, Chris.
Serving as pallbearers were Hershel White, Mike McCullen, Colwin Howard, Carl Sayers, Donnie Weil and Justin Johnson.
