Last week we looked at the Bible's wonderful teaching that Christ's sacrifice on the cross saves us from sin and death to live forever in the joy of God's presence. It seems important to have a clear understanding of what constitutes sin. In our fallen human nature it is so easy to rationalize behavior as OK which, though common, is sin.
A comprehensive though simple definition of sin, as substantiated by Scripture, is any deviation from God's revealed will and character. Consider the following verses. "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin" James 4:17. "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus" Philippians 2:5. "Sin is the transgression of the law", 1 John 3:4, that being God's law of love, the Ten Commandments.Subscribe to Read!
