Woman had small child in vehicle
A Minden woman could be facing some major jail time after being arrested for driving while intoxicated – sixth offense – this time with a small child in her vehicle.
Gina Paul, 30, of the 100 block of Emerald Drive, was arrested Monday for driving while intoxicated (sixth offense), child endangerment, two counts of vehicular negligent injury, driving under suspension and interlock required.
According to Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper, Paul was involved in a motor vehicle accident the night of January 30 on U.S. Hwy. 80, just inside the city limits.
"Officer 1st Class Joel Kendrick was dispatched to a place near Lumberland for a two-vehicle accident," Cropper said. "Paul's vehicle had reportedly crossed the center line and hit the approaching vehicle."
Cropper said a field sobriety test was performed on Paul.
"She did terribly bad on that," he said. "Then, also, she had a one-year-old child in an infant seat in the vehicle. The child wasn't hurt."
Driver of the second vehicle reportedly sustained minor injuries.
Cropper said officers transported Paul to the Minden Police Department where she was subjected to an Intoxilyzer breath tester.
"She was driving under suspension and had an order to have the interlock system in any vehicle that she drives, and she didn't have that," said the chief.
Paul was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. Cropper said her case may go through district court if she is charged with a felony offense.

Comments
This has got to be the most ridiculous comment I have read on this website. Law enforcement do not make the laws in the this state. However, your legislators do. Bitch at them. Law enforcement officers risk more than you know. Often with their hands tied behind their back on many issues. Especially, on DWI offenses.
Haven't you been watching the news during the past couple of years? The police and DA people are themselves drunkards. Foxes are guarding the henhouse, and nobody is taking drunk driving seriously.
