A Doyline woman who is already in jail on prescription drug fraud charges is now facing two counts of felony theft for stealing jewelry from her employer.
The new charges were added to Tammy Diane Anderson, 37, of the 800 block of Fuller Street, earlier this week, after she confessed to Webster Parish Sheriff's detectives Scott Tucker and T.D. Kemp that she had taken the jewelry and sold it.
"Anderson was housekeeper at the victim's residence in Doyline," Tucker said. "They called in August and said the wife's $15,000 wedding ring set was missing from their residence. They thought she had misplaced it, but they couldn't find it, so they filed a report."
Tucker and Kemp began investigating.
"We talked to the housekeeper (Anderson) and anybody who had anything to do with the house," said Tucker. "They denied knowing anything."
In September, the same victims called and reported that more jewelry was missing.
"We talked to the housekeeper again and again she denied knowledge of it," Tucker said. "She even tried to implicate her own daughter, saying she might have stolen it."
Detectives learned Tuesday that Anderson had sold some items to a jewelry store in Shreveport in June and September.
When confronted by Kemp and Tucker, Anderson allegedly confessed to taking the items. To date, none of the pieces have been recovered.
"The jewelry store is checking their inventory, but if anybody has bought any pieces of jewelry from this woman, please call the sheriff's office (377-1515) – no questions asked," Tucker said.
