Free Mary

Mary Helen Foster, Mary Nguyen's mother, reads a passage from the Bible during a peaceful protest at the courthouse in Homer on Friday. Other family members, including Nguyen's two daughters came to the protest. The group sang hymns and prayed not only for Nguyen but for the criminal justice system as well, including the judge (Judge Jenifer Clason) on the case. Nguyen, who is from Minden, has been in prison since 2007 except on two occasions, including an 18-month stint in a mental facility, for defacing and distributing t-shirts.
