On May 24 Lake Bistineau State Park will be hosting another Dutch Oven cooking gathering. Dutch oven cooking involves the art of cooking exclusively with old-fashioned black iron pots. These cooks are very talented and can make a wide variety of foods using simple black pots.
During this program, the Bayou Pots Dutch Oven cooking group will provide cooking demonstrations and lessons for the public. For a small donation, the public will be invited to enjoy lunch with the group. This donation will be used by the group for various paper supplies.
The cooking demonstration begins at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon.
Lake Bistineau State Park is a beautiful park that provides great amenities for camping and recreation. Cabins and Campsites are available year round.
The park also has hiking and biking trails, as well as an equestrian trail. Picnic facilities are also available. This includes pavilions, grills,and tables.
The park is located in Doyline off Hwy 163. Entrance fees are $1 per person between the ages of 3 and 62.
