Michael Gene 'Mickey' McGowan

Mickey McGowan818Funeral services for Mickey McGowan will be held Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating will be Rev. Bill Crider. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Rose-Neath.

Mickey was born August 25, 1949 in Shreveport and entered into rest March 11, 2013 in Shreveport. He graduated from NLU in 1972 with a B.S. in Construction Management and came back to Minden to work at the family construction business, which became McGowan Builders, and has done so until his death. Mickey was a member of Home Builders Association of Northwest Louisiana, Associated General Contractors and ULM Alumni Association. He was an avid fan of the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints.

His brother, Kenny McGowan, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Greer McGowan of Minden; parents, Kenneth and Betty McGowan of Minden; son, Michael McGowan and wife, Karen of Houston, Texas; daughter, Lori McGowan of Kingwood, Texas; grandchildren, Autumn McGowan of Baton Rouge and Johnston McGowan of Houston, Texas; brothers, Rickey D. McGowan of Minden and Jefferey L. McGowan of Minden; and extended family, Bobby and Margaret Evans of Minden.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Evans, Bill Baskerville, Joe Morgan, Johnny Benton, Gary Brown, Tim Dulany, Fred Elzen and Ron Evans.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bush Carnahan, Barry Chandler, Grady Miller, Johnny Green and Norman McMillon.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Grace Home in Shreveport.
