November 4, 1950- January 4, 2013
Robert (Bobby) Donovan, 62, passed away on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013.
He was born in Germany and grew up traveling there until his family moved to the United States when he was 12. Here, he lived in several states: Massachusetts, Kentucky and Texas. He was proudest of his time in the military, the Marines, where he served in Viet Nam.
He tried his hand at a few careers but always gravitated to the ocean where he enjoyed working as a shrimper out of Galveston. He always loved motorcycles and attended the Daytona bike festival several times. His other passion was Nascar racing where his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr. (go Jeff Gordon). He lived many years in Texas and in Florida and even some time in Colorado, but his last few years he lived in Louisiana where he worked in home construction. His last few years were spent with health concerns but also with the love of his life, his wife, Susan, by his side. He will always be remembered for his free spirit where he loved the wind in his hair, the sun on his back and salt water splashing on his face.
There will be a memorial Feb. 23, 2013 at 10 a.m. held at First United Pentecostal Church in Minden. Mr. Donovan will be given Full Honors by the Marine Honor Guard Of Bossier City.
Honorary pallbearers will be Southern Breeze Motorcycle Club of Tallahassee, Florida.
Thank you to the Patriot Guard, Bossier City, Louisiana Chapter who will give him one last ride.
