Funeral services for Johnny (Jody) Edwards will be held Friday, June 17, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Minden. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Crain and the Rev. Don McCormick. Interment will follow at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday June 16, 2011 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Jody was born Aug. 30, 1960 in Ringgold and entered into rest June 11, 2011 in Kansas. Jody worked in railroad derailment service for many years and was well respected by the railroad community. He was currently employed with R.J. Corman. Jody loved cooking and was an avid Nascar fan and loved other sports.
His father, Johnny Glen Edwards, Sr., preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Denise Edwards of Minden; his mother and step-father, Sharon Schonfarber and Ben of Minden; son, Cherokee Edwards of Minden; daughter, Emily Ann Edwards of Bossier City; step-daughters, Charly Dew and husband, Levi of Shreveport and Cady Pruitt of Baton Rouge; sister Nancy Collins and husband, Tim of Heflin; aunts, Clarice Madden of Ringgold and Nancy Youngblood and husband, Blanchard of Minden; nephew, Mike Collins and wife, Katy of Heflin; and numerous cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Rhett Edwards, Jason Edwards, Roy Edwards, Mike Collins, Rick Person, Todd Alexander and Kyle Robertson.
