Funeral services for Emmitt "Jackie" Giddings, Jr. were held today (Monday, Dec. 17, 2012) at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating was Rev. Scott Teutsch. Interment followed at Point Chapel Cemetery in Doyline. The family received friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Jackie was born June 13, 1947 in Shreveport and entered into rest Dec. 14, 2012 in Shreveport. He worked for Reynolds Industrial Contractors for 20 years and was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. Jackie was an amazing man who was loved by all.
His mother, Pauline Lucille Hillman Smith and father, Lawrence E. "Smitty" Smith preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Harvill Giddings; daughters, Paula Joann Smith, Jennifer L. Garrett and Jamie L. Walston; grandchildren, DeAnna and Josh Gomez, Jackson W. Smith, Caden Z. Garrett and Connor L. Walston; brother, Johnny R. Giddings; nephews, Timmy E. Giddings and Larry E. Giddings; and numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, treasured friends and co-workers.
Pallbearers were Jackson W. Smith, Allen Savell, Josh Gomez, James R. Herren, Gary Carter, Billy Reeves and Hombre Armstrong.
Honorary pallbearers were Jackie Antee, Greg Williams, Danny Smith, and Brad Reynolds.
The family extends sincere thanks to doctors and staff at Willis Knighton North, Willis Knighton Cancer Treatment Center and Willis Knighton Lifecare.
