Rushing — Collins united in marriage

Kathryn “Katy” Leah Rushing of Waskom, Texas and Joseph “Mike” Michael Collins of Heflin were married on March 5, 2011, at Open Range Fellowship, Greenwood. The uncle of the bride, Rev. Leonard Nichols officiated the evening ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Jack and Susan Rushing of Waskom. She is the granddaughter of the late Leonard and Estelle Nichols, and the late Benny and Evelyn Rushing. The groom is the son of Tim and Nancy Collins of Heflin.  He is the grandson of Mrs. Gail Collins and the late Archie Collins of Ringold, and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Shonfarber, Sr. and the late Glen Edwards of Minden.

CollinsThe bride was escorted by her father. Her gown is distinguished in its beauty. The attention to detail is apparent by the pleated bodice decorated by beautiful swarvoski crystals. The gown fits the hips and falls into gentle pick-ups. The corset was lined with the same crystals as the bodice with a final touch of crystal buttons down the semi cathedral train.

The veil was a single layer of silk-illusion with a heavily beaded scalloped edge that ended just at her fingertips. She carried a bouquet of hot pink gerber daises accented with little green kermits wrapped in a black and white zebra print ribbon.

Natalie Kelly served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Treadway, Britney Treadway, April Carpenter and Melissa Brown. David Shaw served as best man.

Groomsmen were Bo Litton, John Wardwoodson, Craig Register and Allen Kimmel.Katelyn Treadway served as the flower girl, while Dawson Shaw serverd as ring bearer. Luke and Matthew Nichols, cousins of the bride, served as candle lighters.

Ushers were Cody Holmes, Jay Williams, Hank Nichols and Matthew Rushing, the latter two cousins of the bride.

The reception was held at the Open Range Fellowship.

After a honey moon in Key West, Florida the couple plans to reside in Heflin.
