STERLINGTON — The Lakeside Lady Warriors were eliminated from the LHSAA Class 2A softball playoffs with a 10-5 loss to Sterlington on Tuesday.
Sterlington jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead, but the Lady Warriors came back with four runs in the top of the third to take a 4-2 lead.
Shauni Bourn led off with a base hit to left and moved into scoring position on Jennifer Smart’s bunt. Winkle, Anderson, Gloer and Coleman then strung together consecutive singles.
The Lady Panthers added a run in the bottom of the fourth and then three in the fifth and four in the sixth. Lakeside was only able to score one more run, in the seventh, in the game to make the final 10-5.
Bourn had two hits to lead Lakeside and Kim Coleman singled and tripled. Paige Osborn, Merri Anderson and Emily Robinson added base hits.
Madison Winkle went the distance for Lakeside giving up two runs on six hits. striking out seven and walking two.
Sterlington (18-8) advances and travels to LaPlace to face St. Charles (21-5) on Thursday.
