Apaches take part in Texas tournament

SHELBYVILLE, TEXAS — The Glenbrook Apaches baseball team took part in a tournament in Shelbyville, Texas over the weekend.

The Apaches went 1-2 against three 2A and 3A Texas public schools.

"I thought we competed pretty well against some Texas public schools," Glenbrook coach Jonathan Hardy said. "We made some mistakes and we have some things to improve on, but we played pretty well."

Glenbrook 3, Hemphill 2

Bailey Pettite got his first win of the year, as he pitched the final three innings, striking out six. Logan Clark struck out five in two innings.

Braden Dickson's triple scored Connor Copeland with the go-ahead run.

Garrison 5, Glenbrook 1

"I thought Garrison was the best team in the tournament," Hardy said. "And a great hitting team."

Copeland, Spencer White and Cameron Matthews all singled.

Shelbyville 6, Glenbrook 5

The Apaches led 5-0 but with a tired and limited pitching staff, Shelbyville was able to come back and get the win.

Clay Simonton started the game and pitched well. Logan Clark singled and scored two runs, and Jacob White had a two-run single.

The Apaches will play Riverfield today in Rayville.
