­North Webster narcotics agents take down 10

What began as a six-month long investigation culminated in a six-hour arrest blitz on 10 subjects in north Webster Parish this week.

"We started early Monday morning, around seven o'clock," said Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd. "We got lucky. We finished up about two o'clock that afternoon."

While most of the subjects are Springhill residents, one was from Cullen and one from Ruston. Most were arrested at their homes.

"We had conducted undercover buys on each one of these," Lynd said. "Some we had done up to four buys on."

Lynd said everything went smoothly. In addition to Lynd, task force agents include Webster Parish Sheriff's Lt. Shawn Baker, Springhill Narcotics Det. Ronald Wedgeworth and Springhill Patrol Off. Andy Rolen.

The following were arrested, booked at the Springhill Police Department and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

Demarcus J. Kemp, 27, of the 100 block of Rosebud Loop in Springhill, was arrested on three counts of distribution of crack cocaine and one count each of distribution of marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Agents reportedly found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in three rooms of the house. Further search turned up a Smith & Wessnon firearm.

Bonds total $125,000.

Joseph Chad West, 37, of 7th Street in Springhill was arrested on one count of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of distribution of methamphetamine.

During the arrest, agents located methamphetamine smoking pipes, straws with methamphetamine residue and other drug paraphernalia.

Bond is $45,000.

James Riley Keene, 34, of Ruston, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Keene was located at a residence in Springhill. Two guns were discovered in plain view.

Bond has not been set.

Kimya Denice Allen, 30, of the 100 block of Rosebud Loop, was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bond has not been set.

Latrese Scott, 27, of the 200 block of Pafford St. in Cullen, was arrested on two counts of distribution of crack cocaine and one count of distribution of marijuana.

Bonds total $60,000.

Kim Allyne Gorum, 47, of 7th Street SE in Springhill, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gorum was arrested at her residence. Video surveillance showed her in at least two separate undercover buys.

Bond has not been set.

Antonio D. Kemp, 31, of Sherwood Apartments in Springhill, was arrested on two counts of distribution of crack cocaine.

Kemp was located in the back seat of a vehicle. Agents reportedly stopped the vehicle and took Kemp into custody.

Bond is $50,000.

Natasha L. Thomas, 18, of 7th Street SW in Springhill, was arrested for distribution of crack cocaine and simple possession of marijuana.

Bond has not been set.

Laneshie Rankin, 21, of Springhill, was arrested on two counts of distribution of crack cocaine.

Bonds total $100,000.

Nathaniel Thomas, 17, of Springhill, was arrested on two counts of distribution of crack cocaine.

Bond is set at $50,000.
