Team two wins away from heading to Angels World Series

Minden Angels finding success at State Tournament

PONCHATOULA —The Minden Angels All-Star team will be playing in the Angels State Championship Game today at the Ponchatoula Recreation Complex. at 6 p.m.

The Minden girls went 2-1 over the weekend, and must win two more games to advance to the Angels World Series in Georgetown, South Carolina.

In their first game, the Minden Angels took on Mangham at noon on Saturday.

The Minden pitchers held Mangham to just two hits, and the Angels went on to win, 13-4.

Aubrie Dickson struck out five batters, Cecily Gurgainers struck out four and Kassidy Giddens struck out three.

Zimaya Manning led the offense with a single, triple and a home run. Kelsey Giddens homered and singled, and Kami Bumgardner doubled. Kassidy Giddens and Dickson both added singles.

The Minden Angels suffered a tough loss in Game 2, as they fell to Rayville, 2-1.

Kami Bumgardner doubled, and Kelsey Giddens and Ty Shehee both singled. Aubrie Dickson, Kassidy Giddens and Cecily Gurgainers combined to strike out 10 batters and allow five hits.

Minden bounced back on Sunday, beating Mangham, 12-9.

Ky Jones and Kami Bumgardner both singled and doubled, and Kelsey Giddens had two singles. Ty Gill, Kassidy Giddens, Zimaya Manning and Aubrie Dickson all added base hits.

Kassidy Giddens struck out four batters, Alyssa Martin struck out three and Dickson had two.
