Thief stopped carting off items

Thief stopped carting off items

A Shreveport man came to Minden in order to steal from a local discount store.

Larry Rhodes, 45, of the 3100 block of Bert Kouns, was arrested for felony theft over $500 when he tried to wheel a shopping cart filled with items from the store without paying for them.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said the Loss Prevention personnel at the store contacted the police when they observed Rhodes leaving and confronted him in the parking lot.

"We dispatched Off. Clint Smith and when he asked Rhodes why he was leaving the store without paying, he indicated 'wasn't thinking,'" Cropper said. "Rhodes could produce a receipt for only a few of the items in his buggy, but he apparently had a lot in his buggy that wasn't paid for."

Rhodes was booked and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
