Lady Panthers ready for Hathaway

Lady Panthers ready for Hathaway

DOYLINE —The Doyline Lady Panthers will face the Hathaway Lady Hornets Thursday night at at Doyline in the first round of the LHSAA Class B Girls Basketball tournament.

Hathaway will come into the game as an unknown to Doyline coach Michael Normand.

"I don't know much about them yet, but hopefully I will be getting some info shortly," he said. "Honestly I'm more worried about the amount of energy we play with on Thursday. Sometimes our effort just hasn't been where I'd like it to be."

The Lady Panthers finished their regular season with a 17-12 record. Doyline will be the #15 seed in Class B. Hathaway comes in as the # 18 seed and finished their season with a sub .500 record at 8-20.

"I'm hoping that we realize the importance of this game, and bring the energy," Normand said. " We had a great game against Saline on Sunday night so maybe these veteran girls are realizing that's it's the end of the season and that it's time to really focus on what we are trying to accomplish."

A win by the Lady Panthers could set up a big match-up between them and Class B's #2 seed, Stanley High School in the second round.

Tip off for the Doyline/Hathaway game will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
