Daffodil Capital hosts tour

Annual Jonquil Jubilee scheduled for March 2

Flower lovers are guaranteed to have a blooming good time during the upcoming Jonquil Jubilee Home and Garden Tour in Gibsland.

Dubbed the "Daffodil Capital of Louisiana," the town hosts the tour annually.

This year's event will be held Saturday, March 2 and kicks off at 8 a.m. with the Jonquil Jubilee $5 Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at the Gibsland Lions Club building.

Tour hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. With a $10 ticket, tourists will receive a map and directions to multiple attractions.

Homes on this year's tour include:

"The Dog Trot," owned by Lt. Colonel Jeff Stogsdill and his wife Pam.

First Baptist Church of Gibsland (handmade quilts).

Oak Grove Farm – walking tour where fields of bulbs have been planted for generations.

The Carter Farm – Lorris and Elaine Carter have a model car exhibition.

Blacksmith Shop belonging to Russell and Sue Kettler. Watch live demonstrations.

Stagecoach Inn, established in 1847, featuring historians.

Other stops are Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, where talks will be presented by Lestar Martin, and Mt. Lebanon Stagecoach Trail Museum. Sally's

Field is a drive-by display featuring more than 6,000 daffodils.

Downtown Gibsland features shopping at the Gibsland Bank Annex.

There will be vendors showing off hand-crafted items and a large assortment of plants and garden accessories.

Raffle chances will be sold for an opportunity to win a hand-made quilt or 1,000 daffodil bulbs planted at any location.

Hungry tourists can sample homemade tea cakes or country cooking from  Gibsland Grill and barbeque at Key Rail Barbeque.

Also open for touring will be the Bonnie & Clyde Museum, LLC, the Authentic Bonnie & Clyde Museum, Barbara Van Cleave Joiner Memorial Garden and Burkhalter Gazebo which highlights a wide variety of daffodils.
